Sports Massage

Sport massage is a form of deep tissue massage which is usually focused on a specific area of the body. Sports massage differs from other types of remedial massage in that it can be used to treat specific soft tissue injuries and imbalances and help prevent injuries as well as ease muscle tension. Sports massage targets deeper layers of muscle tissue which can help improve circulation and, in turn, the removal of toxins which can lead to muscle soreness and stiffness. This can aid recovery both after activity or post injury. During a sports massage a number of different techniques are used such as muscle energy techniques (MET), myofascial release, trigger point therapy (TPT) positional release, stretching and massage to improve joint mobility, muscle flexibility and performance. Sports massage can benefit anyone from elite athletes to office workers.
